2nd Annual PWS Festival of Art:
A Zero Waste Event!

In 2007, PWS launched its Sunflower Compact. Unanimously endorsed by the Board, Faculty, Staff, and Parent Council, the compact presents a plan for the entire school community to work together to contribute to the health and well-being of the planet. In December of 2008, Pasadena Waldorf School was publicly honored by the mayor at a Pasadena City Council meeting with an Outstanding Recycler Award for a Group Voluntary Development of a Source Reduction Program. In keeping with the Sunflower Compact, we strive for zero waste at all our events! We invite you to come and be a part of it! Bring your own cup for free water at our convenient water stations! Our food vendors use compostable disposables... forks, plates, and cups made of vegetable starch rather than paper and plastic – how cool! A three bin trash system is used to collect and separate trash, recycling, compostables, and food scraps. All food scraps are composted and used for agricultural purposes rather than ending up in a landfill! Need help? Look for our Trash Fairies at each trash station to help guests sort their waste effectively!
